On December 14th, 2020, the Hub played host to the graduation of 15 Google Africa Developers Scholarship awardees. The graduates were inaugurated into the Bayelsa Tech Community.
As part of the activities in fulfilment of the mandate of the Bayelsa Tech Hub, the 1st Stakeholders meeting for the Bayelsa Tech Community was hosted yesterday, Friday 20th March, 2020, and had one of the Hub Mentors; Mr Bruce Lucas as Guest Facilitator.
Before the event which started at 12noon at the Bayelsa Tech Hub, We visited the Federal University Otuoke to engage the Computer Science Department of the University to support the growth of the Student community through Tech Programs. Strategies were discussed on how the Bayelsa Tech Hub can work with the Institution to see that her Student community becomes Tech Savvy, and join the pull of Developers and Innovators in Bayelsa State. Representative of the ICT Department, Mr Ini gave his commitment to act on the strategies discussed immediately the institution resumes back academic activities fully.
Upon returning back to yenagoa, we commenced the Stakeholders meeting which saw to the networking of Developers, and other Creatives alike, and created opportunities to enable them pay for and utilize the Hub Spaces optimally.
In the meet, a Startup was identified, and commitments were made by Mr Bruce Lucas to support their early stage, while they build up for the Hub’s Incubation Program.
While we look forward to the robust engagements and partnership from International organizations like Google, Microsoft, IBM, and Facebook in engaging these local communities and having them in our database, we would be hosting their meetups at the hub, as our way of support.
As part of our objectives to bring young people into Tech, we had a visit from God’s Heritage International School. It was an exciting experience for the Students at the Tech Hub, as they were introduced to the world of Programming and Robotics.

We will be rolling out our Weekend Robotics Program for Kids between 6 – 16yrs. The program will expose Kids to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), and build their Critical thinking skills, programming skills, as well as Problem, Solving skills.

Over the weekend, we hosted beautiful strong women in commemoration of the International Women’s Day through a Google Digital Skills Training powered by Tribe Africa. The Event saw to the enlightenment of these women on Business Development and Digital Marketing Skills that would improve their various businesses.
Beyond the Brain Storming Session and Business Pitching Session, The Women were led through a tour of the Bayelsa Tech Hub, where they learned about the Hub’s Services. From the affordable co-work spaces, the robotics program, the hub training, to the rental hall and meeting rooms available to both Hub and Non-Hub Members.
Indeed, it was an amazing event, and we are proud of what Women in Bayelsa are doing in their various spheres of influence.

Over the weekend we co-hosted the TEEF Grant Writing Class with Tonyve Farms
The class educated attendees on tips to writing a winning grant application. It also educated attendees especially aspiring entrepreneurs on what it takes to become a successful business owner.
